HR Manager is a reputed position in any company and the person sitting on it is expected to treat people with courtesy and respect. But probably not this HR who got a job application from Minh Huynh, a Vietnamese immigrant with relevant job experience. Bruce Peterson the HR manager of the company sent back an aggressive and rude email to the immigrant to which, this daughter made him pay and the entire event has gained a lot of attention and people are getting really pissed off at the manager.
We can’t deny the fact that you need to know a certain level of English to get the job and it’s the legitimate requirement for some of the employers. But obviously sending such a rude response was not necessary. No doubt the email sent to the Immigrant lacked professionalism and could quite easily have destroyed the confidence of a guy who is doing nothing but his best to support his family.
But Emily the daughter of Minh Huynh was shocked to see the email her father received. She shared it on Twitter to show what difficulties and discrimination immigrants face. Emily said “My dad told me that he isn’t that ‘hurt’ by it, but there’s a big stigma around Asian immigrant parents that deal with this all the time. They brush it off because they don’t understand the depth of the situation. People always use micro-aggression with or without knowing they do which is a big concern when it comes to the treatment of future citizens. I’m just disgusted.”
Her tweet went viral in no time and became an important discussion. The unwanted publicity that Mr Peterson’s company has received since Emily’s tweets went viral and he had to leave his job. This is a positive sign that this kind of blatant discrimination and unprofessionalism won’t be tolerated, so if you have a job that deals with people of any kind, don’t be a dick and expect to get away with it.
This is Minh Huynh and his daughter Emily Huynh a Vietnam immigrant who has recently been trying to find work!
Emily was flabbergasted when she saw the email her father received from the HR of the company he had applied to!
